Keyboard Lessons

These are short video lessons with instructions regarding playing styles, accompaniment issues and finger exercise. These are designed to address particular aspects of playing individually or in a group so that the best effect is achieved.
                                                                                        

Lesson 1.

Developing a rhythm to accompany songs by playing bass in the LH
and chords in the RH.

Lesson 2.

This example takes a minor chord and shows you how to pay a rhythm
with the LH playing bass and the RH playing chords.

This is for accompanying slower songs.

Playing in a group we need to be careful not to clash with the Bass player, Lead player etc. So it is advisable to stick to a way of playing that is clear and firm.

This is an example of playing chords 'Blues” style. Here too the LH is concerned primarily with the bass movement and the RH is concerned with playing chords.

All the examples thus far have been examples where restraint is the norm. There are exceptions to this. One can be busy during solos.
